A Transition: Auntie Ramy’s Journey to Resilient Farming and a Brighter Future
Meet Ramy Pius, affectionately known as Auntie Ramy. Her journey is one of resilience, adaptation, and hope. Originally from Kalanggaan, where she lived 13.5 kilometers away from the nearest road, Ramy farmed vegetables like losun, sawi, and white chilies. Despite her hard work, it wasn’t enough to support her two daughters. In search of a better future, she moved her family to Kg. Togudon.
However, farming in Togudon presented its own set of challenges. Relentless rains often damaged her crops, while securing affordable fertilizer and high-quality seedlings proved difficult. Selling her produce added another layer of struggle, making her transition from Kalanggaan to Togudon feel like a difficult step backward. These challenges were one of the main reasons she decided to join AGRI-SPARK, a decision that would soon bring significant changes to her life.
Through AGRI-SPARK, Ramy saw remarkable improvements. Her crop yields increased, her workload became more manageable, and her marketing challenges were addressed. With these solutions, Auntie Ramy’s optimism was reignited.
Today, she stands on the cusp of a brighter future, enjoying a more stable income and enhanced farming practices. Ramy’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of adaptability, innovation, and the support of programs like AGRI-SPARK in shaping the future of agriculture.
